Desert Cruise – Avalon Cruise
The desert land cruise, March 3-5, to the Indian Wells-Palm Desert area sold out. Don’t miss Avalon in April!
Avalon, April 21-23, will be beautiful and green after all the rain this year. Plan to attend a Friday night cocktail party at historic Catalina Island Yacht Club, as well as a fun Saturday activity, then return to CIYC for an entertaining dinner party. Sign-ups for this cruise starts March 25.
The new Adventure Cruise (AC) will be to Santa Barbara Yacht Club and the Channel Islands, July 13-21. Director Larry Fortmuller will organize information and details for the members planning to take their boats on the extended portion of this cruise, designed to include members who wish to drive or take the train for the Friday-Sunday period as well.
BCYC has always been noted for its cruises to destinations near and far. Over the years, we’ve travelled together to many ports and landlocked destinations, and have had great times together. In addition, on an informal basis, club members have organized cruises and charters to other far-flung destinations like the Virgin Islands, Mexico and the Pacific Northwest. Although these trips were not official BCYC events, they shared many commonalities in participants and intent, with the added spice of a bit more “adventure” for skippers and crew.
In this spirit, the above-mentioned Adventure Cruise (AC) is being added to BCYC’s cruise calendar with the hopes of making this an annual event if it proves to be popular. We’ll look at new destinations, charter opportunities and a bit more exploration and skills-based cruising to spice up our offerings.
For our inaugural AC event, piggybacking onto the SBYC cruise gives participants the choice to extend the adventure with an added cruise itinerary exploring the beautiful Channel Islands National Park; concluding at Two Harbors, before heading home. Mark your calendars to join in – we will have an information meeting March 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Lounge to discuss details of the AC float plan. Let the adventures begin!
