Sailing and Leading
Hi, my name is Max Mayol, your 2017-2018 junior commodore. My family has been members of BCYC since the year I was born, and the club has been my home. I have enjoyed sailing locally and internationally under the BCYC burgee and am very excited to have finally reached this prestigious position. Ever since I was a little kid I have aspired to be the Junior Commodore at BCYC, and it is so surreal that it is finally happening. Having served on the junior board for the past six years, I enjoyed each year while working side-by-side with many of my role models.
This year, I hope to achieve a few major, but very achievable goals. My vision as junior commodore is to make the junior board more visible to the club as a whole. Also, to help raise as much money as possible for the junior program. To facilitate the first goal, the junior officers will be eating in the Columbia Room on a regular basis so we can meet more of the members. When you see us, come by and say hi – we would love to meet you and hear any suggestions or answer questions you have about what we do. I am looking forward to a great year.
