Wow, So Much Fun Stuff!
While recently attending an Opening Day at another yacht club, I looked around at the gathering of attendees wearing blue blazers, sipping champagne in front of beautiful yachts and thought, “this is what people think we do when I mention I belong to a yacht club.” While we do have our “blue blazer” events at BCYC, all of our activities are meant to be fun and leave members smiling, with great memories. Between October 2016 and April 2017, we have dressed like cowboys for Halloween, watched the Christmas Boat Parade from our award-winning club balconies and patios, toasted in the New Year, partied at our elegant Commodore’s Ball, enjoyed an amazing cooking class with Chef Georges Rapicault, been part of Showboat, reveled in our off-off Broadway dinner theater and been entertained with smooth jazz at Lounge Night. All of this took place in and around our own BCYC clubhouse!
As we move into summer, we are looking forward to pulling out all the stops with the June 16 Winemaker Dinner featuring Balverne Wines, enjoying the Pizza and Movie Night June 17 and ending the weekend celebrating Dad at our Father’s Day Brunch with the member car and art shows – cars and art are proudly displayed for all the dads and guests to enjoy.
How does all of this possibly happen at one club? It is only because our members have as much fun working together putting on these events as we do attending them. You feel the camaraderie and lasting friendships formed while planning, as well as attending these events, the moment you walk in the door at BCYC. Come, join the fun – the Activities Committee meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. – blue blazers not needed!
