The 60th birthday year for BCYC was filled with laughter, music, formal occasions, dancing and cool videos. The merchandise commemorating this milestone was remarkable. It was a very good year.
I truly enjoyed working with a dedicated team of board members, the many incredibly talented committee chairs and volunteers, and our BCYC staff. Each member made a contribution to a successful 2018, and I thank each of you for what you have done to make our club a better place. While my bride, Dee, dealt with recovery from spinal surgery, her support was the cherry on a very beautiful sundae!
As we look forward to 2019 and beyond, there is a strong leadership group in place. The membership is vibrant and very active as evidenced by the many sold out events and cruises. The Race Committee is extremely busy and Las Commodoras provides many interesting and informative luncheons, spreading goodwill. Facility renovation continues as we invest in BCYC’s future. Of particular note is the replacement of the ramp leading to D, E and F docks, and the significant upgrades accomplished on the top floor of the clubhouse. Financially, the club is in excellent shape, a tribute to everyone involved, including the Board of Directors, Finance Committee and club management.
I leave you with the words of Leonardo da Vinci: “I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.”
