So…what’s on the 2021 BCYC race calendar? Here are the current plans:

Angelman Series– we will again run the medium-distance ocean races that comprise this three-month long series.

Midwinter Regatta– the annual SCYA event after Valentine’s Day, two days of Harbor 20 races.

Bogart Series – we’re optimistic that we can return to the two-day format of racing over to Avalon, partying, then racing back the next day.

Weiss Series – we will run this Harbor 20 series spread across three months for a total of 15 individual races per class (there are three classes).

Around the Oil Islands – this is our fastest-growing series with three races over three months. A 23-mile round trip, out to the mid-channel oil islands and back.

Leukemia Cup Regatta – we are equally optimistic that we will get to run this regatta for the Farr 40s and PHRF boats in August. Harbor 20s and the juniors will sail in July.

Wild Sailing Regatta – a new two-race format starting in the harbor, then racing offshore to a series of marks. Lots of turns and lots of tacking. Fun!

Harbor 20 Tune-Up – another full day of Harbor 20 racing at its best with five windward/leeward races per class – a lot of enjoyable work.

Hot Rum Series – the pirates of Newport Beach will kick off this three-month series. Two harbor races per day provide lots of great racing and an opportunity to win a special prize.

Taco Tuesday– of course, we will repeat our signature summer series. For 2021, we will run…wait for it…17 Taco Tuesday races.
