No, it’s not a new dance step or a city in Spain. The Barcolana is the world’s largest sailboat race with 2,689 boats and over 16,000 sailors at the starting line in the Gulf of Trieste. The real question is, where is the Race Committee boat?

If you prefer smaller crowds and want to race closer to home, enter the Angelman Series. Three mid-distance offshore races over three months…a great way to enjoy the winter. Just think, some racers on the East Coast still have their boats hauled out and covered.

I know you don’t need a reminder, but Sunday, Feb. 14, is Valentine’s Day, a time to give your spouse or significant other a big hug! If you’re having trouble deciding on a special gift, I have a few Taco Tuesday hats available. Of course, you will have to sail in a few races during the 17-week Taco Tuesday Series…yep…you read that correctly…17 weeks! 2021 will be the 12th year in a row that we have run Taco Tuesday races. This year’s series begins May 11 and finishes Aug. 31.

Finally, a note about personal safety. As I write this (in early January), COVID-19 is still a huge problem. Although vaccines are being delivered, we need to keep our personal guard up until the “all clear” signal is given. Until then, WEAR A MASK!
