Taco Tuesday, with the monster Mexican buffet (and racing), took place every Tuesday, May 15 to Aug. 28. The Wild Sailing Regatta, patterned after Taco Tuesday, will run the second of three races AND party Sept. 15 – hosted by Balboa Yacht Club. The final WSR race and party will be at BCYC Oct. 6 – make plans to be part of this new event hosted by BCYC and BYC.

Clambake 2018 was a great success with the BCYC gang at Cat Harbor for games, food, competitions and libation. Thanks to Lauri and Vice Commodore Steve Moffet and their team, as well as the BCYC staff, for a fantastic job of continuing this fine BCYC island tradition.

It is always great to see the progress of our junior sailors, evidenced by the recently completed Camp Corinthian and Junior Awards Banquet. Congratulations to Junior Sailing Director Cameron MacLaren, his coaches, all participants and their committed parents for another great summer program filled with learning and growing.

The Gala, supporting high achievement on the water, will take place at BCYC Sept. 22. The first two years of this wonderful fund-raising event has done that, with many remarkable accomplishments. Your generosity and enthusiastic support of The Gala is greatly appreciated.

Hopefully you have had a chance to purchase some 60th anniversary merchandise from the Ship’s Store. The variety is tremendous – there is definitely something for everyone. Kudos to Lori Curtin and her Ship’s Store team.

Our August Birthday Celebration was superb. The music, food and fun factor were off the charts. Spending more than one year planning this event, as well as the many other 60th anniversary-related events, was a committee chaired by Kari Konapelsky and ably assisted by Mark Arizmendi, EB Barden, Susan Barden, Ramsey Johansson, Vice Commodore Ginny Lombardi, Bill Long, Lauri Moffett, Kristy Parr, Lynn Selich and Cleve Sproule. Special props to Director Jeff Granbery, Bill Long and Lynn Selich for their efforts in creating the special 60th anniversary video. All, well done! This group went for great and they achieved that goal.
