Well, finally we had our beautiful High Tea on the Compass Rose Aug. 20, the first Las Commodoras event since February. Everyone had a great time. It was a bit humid for hats and tea but we all enjoyed being together at the club! Chef Georges Rapicault and his culinary team provided beautiful tea sandwiches, wonderful cool soup and, of course, clotted cream and scones. So sorry if you missed it, but make sure to be part of this event in 2021. The hats were bright and colorful, and we had some great winners. Thank you to Joyce Barnes and Teri Leigh for coordinating this event. We had sweet guitar music by Tim Whelan, setting the mood perfectly.
An awesome Kentucky Derby Day, Sept. 5, was the combined efforts of Las Commodoras and Activities and Cruise Committees. There were lots of horses (the stick figure breed) and horsing around. Our own Dee Shandera performed a special version of “My Old Kentucky Home,” with BCYC-themed lyrics – very funny. She is always a welcome performer at our events. The Hat Contest featured winners for whimsical and elegant. Flights of bourbon and wonderful mint juleps enhanced the event. Everyone had a great time!
Thank you all for attending our events. We look forward to your participation with your favorite pooch in the Dog Show, 9:30 a.m., Oct. 10, followed by the Oktoberfest Brats and Boots at 6 p.m. As usual, both events require reservations for distance spacing. See you ALL in October.
