What a difference a year makes! The Gala, benefitting Bahia Sail Racing Association and supporting high achievement on the water, was held for the sixth consecutive year on Sept. 11. The joyful crowd enjoyed live music indoors in the auction room and outside on the Compass Rose, indulged in free-flowing champagne and martinis, and savored a sumptuous feast of hors d'oeuvres presented by Chef Georges Rapicault and his superb culinary team. Everyone delighted in opportunities to bid on exceptional silent and live auction items, including fabulous vacations and brilliant jewels. The Bubbles and Bling raffle, presented by BCYC member Lori Curtin and Marina Diamond & Watch, offered a chance to win a stunning 2.2 carat emerald! The Wine Pull, with more than 60 bottles of wine donated at the July wine party, and managed by Las Commodoras, offered attendees the chance to spin and win. For those who enjoy a game of chance, the raffle included a multitude of marvelous items donated by Commodore Rhonda Tolar.

In recognition of the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, BCYC Chaplain Marjorie Davis prepared a moving tribute read by Commodore Tolar and followed by a moment of silence.

Jeanie Lowry was posthumously awarded the Marshall Caplan Award for her love, support and tremendous generosity toward the BCYC Junior Sailing Program.

Staff Commodore Mary Bacon returned as our esteemed auctioneer and headlined a beautiful evening attended by many members of the BCYC family. Until next year, cheers!
