The Leukemia Cup Regatta is unique in that all sailors are encouraged to join our fundraising effort for cancer research. Join our team skippers as they recruit their friends, co-workers and family to help raise funds to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Sailing enthusiasts, those who like to watch from shore, and those with a passion for curing cancer are invited to participate.

A Message from Gary Jobson

As the national chairman of the Leukemia Cup Regatta, I am inviting you and your members to participate in the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club Leukemia Cup Regatta taking place on June 2nd. There will be races for PHRF, Harbor 20 and Junior classes. Fundraising registration is available online at

In addition to making sure that we have a great race, it’s vital that we all rally around the main reason that the Leukemia Cup Regatta is taking place: to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). I am very grateful to LLS and all of you who were there for me when I was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2003. I am living proof of the great strides in research and treatment that events like the Leukemia Cup have made possible. But we cannot rest until everyone has access to treatments and no child or adult has to go through the cancer battle. Inevitably some of your members have been affected by a blood cancer.

Here’s where we can use your help:

  • Participation by your club and setting goals such as number of registered participants and a dollar goal for the fundraising by your club’s participants. The LLS staff is available to help you with ideas for making fundraising easy and fun, and to make your club’s participation an amazing success. We will present an award to the top fundraising club at the event, and on top of that, there are some great Leukemia Cup Regatta fundraising incentives. Reminder: fundraising crew do not have to be sailors or even from your area. If you need more proof for how your funds can save lives, watch this video from Riley, who I had the chance to meet in New Orleans a few months ago.
  • Promoting the Fall Series Leukemia Cup Regatta on your website and social media outlets, and emails to your members, and ask them to visit register. We can provide you with text for your website and email to your members
  • Think about other ways your club and members can help: even small events like a rum or wine and cheese reception can add up to big donations.

I admire all of the hours and work that each of you put in to lead your club. This is a great opportunity to promote your club to the community and engage your members. We have set an ambitious fundraising goal of over $100,000, which would make a tangible impact on our ability to accelerate cancer cures and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
We are here to help you, your officers and members in any way. Let’s make the 2018 Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club Leukemia Cup Regatta an amazing year on all fronts. Thank you very much for your support.

Best wishes,
Gary Jobson
